Katie & Jake’s Saint Louis Union Station Wedding might win the award for my favorite wedding of all time. Not because it was beautiful, although it was incredibly stunning, but because of what this day represented. I had an incredibly difficult week last week, but I had to put all of that aside because my sweet clients deserved me at my best. I went into the day knowing that I’d probably shed a few tears, but I had no idea that the ceremony I would witness would bring me to such an emotional place. Kevin Hughes, their officiant, gave the most beautiful sermon I’ve ever heard at a wedding (and I’ve been to…well…a gazillion weddings), and I had to go up to him afterwards to thank him for speaking the words that my soul needed to hear. But not only that, Katie and Jake WORSHIPPED at their ceremony. That doesn’t happen normally, but you could tell how thankful they were for the Lord’s presence over them that day and within their marriage. It was incredible to witness. And it wasn’t just them. Their parents, too, and their guests. It was AWESOME!
When I say that I want to work with couples where their marriage means more to them than their wedding day, Katie and Jake will forever be that benchmark. I am SO incredibly thankful that the wedding I shot after this week was yours, and I’m so happy that you two let me be a part of it (even if you hate photos, Jake). I wish you two nothing but the absolute best in your marriage. I know it’s going to be one for the record books.
An extra special thanks to my second shooter, Amy, and the rest of our fabulous vendor team!
